Chasing my dreams
My name is Ink Kim, I'm half Thai and half Chinese. Born in Bangkok, August 5th, 1994 and raised in Melbourne.
I've always loved art and when I was younger I dreamed of being a mangaka as I read shounen jump, but being from an Asian household we're always given the typical speech on how to become a doctor or a lawyer. So I put my drawing on hold and pursued my education to doing a law/commerce double degree graduating in 2017.
During my time in university I decided that I wanted to go overseas and learn another language, I couldn't decide where but I knew it was between China, France, Japan or Korea; so I tossed a coin, 3 times in fact, and in the end it was France vs. Japan, I was leaning to going to France because I had already studied it in high school and was able to speak at a conversational level, but alas, fate had other plans and the coin landed on Japan.
Next thing I knew I bought 4 exercise books, 4 kanji text books and 3 Japanese text books from beginner to intermediate and in the 3 months before my exchange program started I managed to become almost fluent in Japanese.
After living there for a year and experiencing all the art and culture, my love for art was rekindled and I knew that I wanted to one day design jewelry, clothes and furniture. I ended up loving Japan so much I lived there for another 3 years, 4 in total from 2015 to 2019.
After returning to Melbourne I thought I'd change my career from a corporate consulting job to something more artistic, I found that design and fashion was where my heart lay and I began working as a sales assistant at UNIQLO all the meanwhile designing and prototyping jewelry as a hobby.
While I'm pursuing my own personal projects I would love to work alongside like-minded individuals who also share a passion for design, creativity and marketing!
